Vietnam veteran was MEMA deputy director

WAKEFIELD — Quirino “Bud” Iannazzo, 82, of Wakefield, died at his home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, Oct. 22, after a long period of failing health.

Born in Malden on June 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Mary (Villano) Iannazzo.

Bud was raised in Malden before moving to Wakefield at the age of 15. He graduated from Wakefield High School, Class of 1957, Northeastern University, and went on to receive his Masters in Management from Lesley College. He served in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam era.

Bud was the former director of Rhode Island Services for the Massachusetts/Rhode Island Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc., former Director of ABC’s Illinois Chapter and the membership director of the Burlington Chapter. Bud was the Division Director at MelroseWakefield Hospital and Deputy Director of MEMA. He volunteered at the Wakefield Adult Mentor Program and Mystic Valley Elder Services. He also served as president of the YMCA Board of Directors and was a longtime member of the Planning Board in Wakefield.

Bud enjoyed golfing, especially introducing his grandson Brett to the game.

Bud is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara M. (DelRossi) Iannazzo, and loving children Elena Bentley and her husband Scott of Wakefield and Philip Iannazzo and his wife Christine of Methuen. He is also survived by his grandson Brett Iannazzo.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield, on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Arrangements were handled by McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield.
