WAKEFIELD — A Rhode Island man was taken to Lahey Medical Center in Burlington for treatment of injuries after the 40-foot tractor-trailer unit that he was driving overturned on Salem Street early this morning as it was taking a left from the Exit 42 off-ramp from Route 128 onto Salem Street.

Just after 1 a.m., police received multiple 911 calls reporting that the truck had rolled over at the base of the off-ramp. The driver was reportedly trapped inside the truck’s cab. The Wakefield Fire Department responded and had to remove the truck’s windshield in order to get the driver out. The driver was taken to Lahey by Action Ambulance for treatment of arm and leg injuries.

A heavy-duty tow truck was called in to right the tractor trailer and tow it from the scene. Firefighters swept up debris and spread absorbent to soak up vehicle fluids.
