WAKEFIELD — The WMHS outdoor boys’ track and field team had 10 All-Stars named in the Middlesex League this season.

The Warriors improved as the 2019 season went on and had one of their best finishes in recent memory at the Middlesex League Meet as they took 3rd overall with 73 points, trailing only Lexington and Reading.

Wakefield went on to a strong postseason featuring plenty of individual success like junior Tanner Jellison winning the Div. 3 Eastern Mass state title in the 800 meters and the 4×400 team of Jellison, sophomore Tucker Stikeman, freshman Bradley Diaz and junior Trevor Zupan getting 3rd overall on the same day. Both Jellison in the 800 and the 4×400 team took 11th at All-States.

Jellison in the 800 and the 4×400 team were both named to the Middlesex League’s All-Conference team.

Also making the All-Conference team was senior Brian Smith in the 100 meters.

Two All-Stars were named in each event in both the Freedom and Liberty Divisions. The All-Conference team features the top finisher in the league in each event.

In addition to those five student athletes on the All-Conference team, Wakefield had five more All-Stars in the Freedom Division.

Zupan was an individual All-Star in the 800 meters.

Diaz was an individual All-Star in the 200 meters.

Stikeman was an individual All-Star in the 400 meter hurdles.
