NORTH READING — North Reading Police and the Mass. State Police Accident Reconstruction team are investigating the cause of a fatal accident Friday morning at 6 a.m. on Route 62 near the Middleton line.

Police Chief Michael Murphy said a 39–year–old Wilmington woman was killed when her Honda traveling eastbound left the road and struck the house at 17 Elm St. Police closed Route 62 to traffic at the Middleton line and at the North Reading Shopping Center near Nan’s Center Café and the road remained closed until after 9 a.m.

The driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle. As of this time, police have not released her name. Three people were at home in the Elm St. address at the time of the accident. No one was injured and the occupants made the first 911 call to the police reporting the accident. The building inspector and electrical inspector were determining on Friday whether the home was safe to be occupied and in the meanwhile the family was staying with friends.
