League champs do very well in balloting
WAKEFIELD — The Middlesex League boys’ outdoor track coaches met recently to make this year’s all-star selections in both the Freedom and Liberty divisions.
Out of 16 events in boys’ outdoor track, the Warriors had M.L. Freedom division All-Stars in 10 of them.
Senior captain Ben Joly (shot put), senior captain Jackson Gallagher (800 meters and 4×400 relay), senior captain Ian Ritchie (mile and 4×400 relay), senior captain Joe Hurton (triple jump and 4×400 relay), senior Pat Casaletto (high jump), junior Eric Chi (100 meters), junior Alec Rodgers (800 meters), junior Rich Custodio (two mile), junior Kevin Russo (javelin), junior Jian Glenn Gallardo (long jump), senior Cam Yasi (4×400 relay) and seniorTyler Strauss (4×400 relay) were the 12 Wakefield athletes selected.
Burlington had 10 M.L. Freedom division all-stars and a relay team, while Stoneham, Watertown and Wilmington each had six all-stars. Melrose had two all-stars.
In the Liberty division, Lexington had 11 individual all-stars, one relay team and a co-MVP to lead the way.
Reading had seven all-stars, while Woburn had six and a co-MVP. Belmont had four all-stars, Winchester had three and Arlington had one athlete chosen.
