LYNNFIELD — The potential threat of thunderstorms did not wilt the competitive spirit of the 276 runners who laced up their sneakers and competed in the 48th annual July Fourth Road Race.

The road race is sponsored by the Lynnfield Athletic Association (LAA). Proceeds from the race benefit athletic programs and scholarships at Lynnfield High School.

Prizes were awarded to the top three finishers in each male and female category. There were 130 local runners as well as runners from across the country who competed in this year’s road race.
