MELROSE — Mr. Anthony A. Miano, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 9 at Bear Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation in Stoneham, at age 92.
Anthony was born in Cambridge on March 19, 1931, a son of the late Oto and Rosa (Cicala) Miano. He was raised and educated in Cambridge where he met the love of his life and best friend, Margaret “Peggy” Thomas. Mr. Miano proudly served in the US Army as Sergeant during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1954. He and Peggy were married on November 23, 1952 and they settled in Melrose to raise a family of three children. Anthony lovingly known as Tony was the successful owner and operator of Cambridge Printing Company for many years.
Tony was always surrounded by family, whether hosting Sunday dinners or holidays at their longtime Melrose home. He loved sharing a laugh with his family and friends and was always up for a good joke. In his free time, he stayed active with regular games of handball with his friends for many years.
Most of all, Tony and Peggy were never apart. They were happiest when together and shared many happy memories with nights out dancing and date nights together. Tony was a loving husband, supportive father and beloved by his grandchildren. May he rest in peace.
Tony was the beloved husband and best friend of the late Margaret A. “Peggy” Thomas Miano with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Devoted father of Sheryl Higgins and her husband Jeff of Lynnfield; Kenneth Miano and his wife Christine of NH; and Michele Price and her husband Shannon Price of SC. Dear brother to John Miano of Arlington and his sister Mary Diclemente of Cambridge. Cherished grandfather and great grandfather of Ryan Higgins, his wife Madeleine and their daughter Hunter; Christopher Higgins, his wife Alexandra and their sons Crew and Ryder; Cameron Higgins; Anthony Miano and his wife Caitlyn and their son Colton; Brianna Miano Dann and her husband William Dann; and Avery Price.
