MELROSE — Aaron B. Lamb, 38, a Melrose resident, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Aaron was born in Jaynesville, Wis. on Nov. 7, 1978 and was raised in Madison, Wis. where he graduated from high school. Aaron graduated from Northwestern University, Class of 2001, and continued his education at Harvard Law School where he graduated in 2004. While in law school, Aaron met his future wife and best friend, Margrethe Flanders. After law school, he proposed and Aaron and Margrethe were married in 2005. They lived in Malden for several years before settling in Melrose in the spring of 2016.
Since 2007, Aaron was a Massachusetts Assistant Attorney General in the Insurance and Financial Services Division. He dedicated himself to his profession and was very proud of his work as an Assistant AG. While in law school, Aaron spent a summer working for the Innocence Project in New Orleans. Indicative of who he was, Aaron always felt strongly about issues of social justice and helping those wronged.
Through Aaron’s work for the Attorney General’s Office, he was instrumental in many cases bringing action against Wall Street banks following the mortgage crisis in 2008. Aaron truly believed in everyone having a fair shot and was willing to support his beliefs in his own actions.
When not working, Aaron enjoyed relaxing at home with Margrethe and their dogs and cats. Together they made a pair, bringing out the best in each other and learning about each other’s interests. Aaron taught Margrethe about his love of playing video games and soon she was by his side playing with him. For years, Aaron never liked dogs but he learned to love Margrethe’s favorite puppies and soon they loved him. With a love for professional sports, Aaron adopted the Patriots and Red Sox and rooted for the Celtics after moving to Boston. A music lover, Aaron was also always listening to music, or researching new artists, albums or songs. In his free time with Margrethe, Aaron enjoyed trips north to Acadia National Park in Maine or time spent on Cape Cod.
Aaron was a considerate, kind, sweet guy with a strong sense of right and wrong. He was quiet but had a very dry sense of humor. Most of all, Aaron was happiest at home, enjoying time with Margrethe, laughing about the cats or playing a video game. He will be forever remembered and his memory will be treasured by all those who knew and loved him.
Aaron was the cherished husband and best friend to Margrethe E.B. Flanders with whom he shared 11 years of marriage. He was the devoted son of Judy Lamb of Madison, Wis. and the late Craig Lamb. He was the beloved son-in-law of Birgitte and Rev. Alden Flanders of North Andover. He was the caring brother-in-law of Christian Flanders of New York City and his fiancée Emelí Lönnqvist of Stockhom, Sweden. Also survived by several loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor of Aaron’s life for a memorial service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Aaron may be made to the Innocence Project, 40 Worth St., Ste. 701, New York NY 10013, Attn: Development. www.innocenceproject.org.
