MELROSE — Melrose Cultural Council (MCC) is seeking proposals for community oriented arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences programs. The Mass Cultural Council’s 2020 LCC grant cycle opens on September 1. The deadline is Monday, October 15. Look for the “apply now” tab on www.melroseculture.org and submit your application online.
The Melrose Cultural Council is the local affiliate of the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s statewide grassroots program that promotes the availability of rich cultural experiences for all Massachusetts residents across the Commonwealth.
The Melrose Cultural Council strives to award grants for partial funding to a variety of projects that demonstrate broad public benefit. Programs can be designed for all ages, or targeted toward adults, children, families, youth, or seniors. Twenty-one grants were awarded last year. The Mass Cultural Council’s Melrose LCC grant allocation for 2020 is $12,400. Past grant recipients are listed on the website.
Awards generally range from $100 to $1,000 and are issued on a reimbursement basis after events occur. The applications can be made by artists, arts organizations, individuals, informal groups, non-profits, schools, municipal agencies and religious affiliated groups for programs scheduled from January 1 though December 31 of 2020.
Proposals for innovative ideas with public benefit, collaborations, and new initiatives are encouraged. Applicants are urged to read and follow the LCC Program eligibility guidelines and local priorities on the website. Applicants are welcome to contact the Melrose Cultural Council directly if they have any questions, or would like feedback on their proposal before submitting a grant request. Grants are competitive and not all requests are awarded.
On Tuesday, September 24 from 7-8:15 p.m. artists and organizers who may be interested in applying for arts and cultural grants are invited to attend a drop-in information session at Follow-Your-Art Community Studios, 647 Main Street for Melrose residents. The public is invited to meet members of the Melrose Cultural Council and Melrose Messina Fund for the Arts, to provide feedback to inform local priorities, as well as receive feedback on how to best prepare a strong arts grant proposal and market and promote local events.
