WAKEFIELD — Alfred J. Aucella, 91, of Wakefield, died Thursday, July 21, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Revere on Nov. 15, 1924, he was the son of the late John and Pasqualina (Quaratta) Aucella.

Mr. Aucella was raised in Revere and was a graduate of Revere High School. He later went on to graduate from Tufts University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He then went on to advanced studies in Management at Harvard University.

Mr. Aucella had served in the United States Navy during both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He had worked for and retired from Boston Edison; and was a member of the Wakefield Knights of Columbus.

He was the beloved husband of Myrtle M. (Rossborough) Aucella. He was the loving father of Kathleen Picket of Florida, Nancy Aucella of Cambridge and Gary A. Aucella of New Hampshire. He was the brother of the late Helen Conley and Ralph, Eugene and John Aucella. He is also survived by five adoring grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as many loving and devoted nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m.
