DANVERS — Alice D. (Dorn) Flynn, 89, of Peabody and Ft Lauderdale, Florida, formerly of Melrose, died at the Hunt Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Danvers on Jan. 2.
Alice was born in Malden, raised in Melrose, a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1944 and The Chandler School in Boston. She worked for the Malden Trust Company in Malden, drove for Meals on Wheels and was also the owner of Dorn Equipment Corporation in Melrose for many years. Alice was an avid gardener and very active with the Malden Hospital Junior Aid for many years. She enjoyed golfing and traveling to Bermuda, Portugal, Ireland and many of the islands. Her grandchildren and family was the most important part of her life.
She was the beloved wife of the late John W. “Jack” Flynn for 62 years. She was the loving mother of Stephen Flynn of Salem; Matthew J. Flynn and his wife Virginia of Wakefield; Elizabeth Browne and her husband Stephen of Georgetown; Deirdre Petricone and her husband Joseph of New Hartford, Connecticut; and the late John W. Flynn, Jr. She was the cherished grandmother of Shelagh and Bryan Browne; John, Ian and Elizabeth “Katie” Marie Flynn; and Cecilia and Daniel Petricone. She was the caring sister of Phyllis Wilson of New Mexico; and the late Philip H. Dorn, Jr. and James Dorn. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday Jan. 6 from 10-11:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose.
