WOBURN – Chief Robert Ferullo reports that the Woburn Police Department arrested a man on Saturday, Dec. 10 who allegedly robbed and attempted to rob two businesses in the city last week.

He is also suspected in a robbery in Lynnfield.

Robert Bauer, 48, of Dorchester is charged with:

• Armed robbery (two counts)

• Assault with intent to commit armed robbery

On Saturday, Dec. 10, around 6 p.m., Woburn Police, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, Boston Police, Stoneham Police and Somerville Police, arrested Bauer on a warrant out of Woburn District Court.

Woburn Police arrested Bauer in connection with an attempted armed robbery at the BP gas station convenience store at 325 Washington St., Woburn on Friday, Dec. 9, and an armed robbery at the Speedway convenience store, 306 Montvale Ave., Woburn on Monday, Dec. 5.

Police were able to obtain video surveillance from the BP convenience store and, with assistance from the public, identified Bauer as the suspect. Woburn Police, with assistance from Winchester Police, later located Bauer in Boston and placed him under arrest.

Bauer was booked at the Boston Police Department and then transported to the Woburn Police Department where he was being held without bail pending his arraignment at Woburn District Court on Monday.

Bauer is also believed to be connected to robberies in Stoneham, Somerville and Lynnfield.

The matter remains under investigation by the Woburn, Stoneham, Somerville, Lynnfield, Winchester and Boston Police Departments, along with the Massachusetts State Police.

“I want to commend Woburn Police Detectives, our neighboring police departments and the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section for their work on this case,” Chief Ferullo said.

He added, “I would also like to thank the public for its assistance identifying the suspect.”
