ROCKPORT — The Lynnfield High boys’ tennis team shutout host Rockport, 5-0, on Monday afternoon at Rockport Elementary School. With that victory, the Pioneers improved to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the Cape Ann League.
“We only practiced a couple of times during school vacation week last week,” pointed out Pioneers head coach Joe Dunn, as the team had nine days off between matches. “We worked on our ball placement and the kids did well today.”
At first singles, Dan Levin won in shutout fashion, 6-0, 6-0. Second-singles player, Shea McCarthy, won, 6-0, 6-2.
At third singles, Avi Shrivastara also won, 6-0, 6-2.
In doubles action, the first team of Russell Kasdon and Rafik Khodr won, 6-1, 6-1, while the second team of Brendan Sokop and Raffi Arkun also won, 6-1, 6-1.
The next match for the Pioneers will be on April 27 as they visit Pentucket at 3:30 p.m.
They then have back-to-back matches on May 1 and May 2. On May 1, they go to Manchester-Essex with that match starting at 3:30 p.m.
The next day, the Pioneers host North Reading with that match starting a little later at 4 p.m.
