NORTH READING — The boys’ track team compiled a .500 record last week.
The Pioneers (2-7) defeated Ipswich 89-56 and fell 84-61 to North Reading in two meets held at North Reading High School May 10.
“There were a lot of great individual performances,” said Pioneers head coach Bill Wallace.
Senior Will Fraulini qualified for states after earning a personal best time in the high jump (5’8”). Senior John Quinn secured a first place finish in the pole vault (11’0”).
Senior Brendan Bey earned a first place finish in two events. He finished first in the 400 high hurdles (58.9) and the 400 meters (53.6).
Senior Matt Seelig broke the tape first in the mile (4:51). Senior Will Klotzbier earned a first place finish in the discus (114’4”). Sophomore Brett Cohee secured a first place finish in the triple jump (40’11”). Cohee also finished third in the 200 meters (24.1) against Ipswich.
Junior Nick Kinnon finished first in three events, including the 100 meters (10.9) and 200 meters (22.5). In the Ipswich meet, Kinnon finished first in the long jump (19’2”). Senior Nick Contardo finished first in the javelin (129’5”).
Junior Ryan Iapicca finished second in the mile (4:54). Junior Nathan Drislane finished first in the shot put (42’9”) against Ipswich. Senior Christopher Kinsleih finished first in the 800 meters (2:10) against North Reading.
Sophomore Jack Campbell finished third in the 800 meters (2:13). Freshman Alejandro Lynch placed third in the 400 meters (56.9).
Henry Sheldon Meet
The Pioneers finished fifth out of 10 teams in the Henry Sheldon Meet at Triton May 13. Lynnfield finished with 75 points.
Kinnon finished first in three events. He finished first in the long jump (20’3”), 200 meters (22.6) and the 100 meters (11.2).
“This performance earned him athlete of the meet,” said Wallace.
Bey finished second in two events, the 400 hurdles (59.60) and 400 meters (53.2). Seelig placed third in the mile (4:52). Kinsleih finished third in the 800 meters (2:11). Drislane placed sixth in the shot put (42’6”).
Contardo earned a second place finish in the javelin (129’7”). Cohee finished third in the triple jump (39’8”). John Quinn finished second in the pole vault (10’0”), while freshman Ben Kramich was third (9’6”).
The 4×100 relay team featuring sophomore Jack Cleary, Cohee, sophomore Leo Quinn and freshman John Lee finished fourth overall (48.0).
