Brian-Flanagan-obit-webLOWELL — Brian S. Flanagan, a 20 year resident of Lowell and formerly of Melrose, entered into eternal life suddenly on Monday, March 14, 2016 at his home in Lowell. He was 51 years old.
Brian was born in Everett on April 26, 1964 and was the son of Elizabeth S. “Betty” (Tyminski) and Daniel J. Flanagan Jr. He grew up in Melrose, where he was educated in the Melrose Public Schools, attended Cardigan Mountain Middle School in Canaan, N.H. and graduated from Melrose High School in 1982. While growing up in Melrose, Brian was involved in Melrose Youth Hockey and played hockey for Melrose High School. Brian worked as a technician for the Trahan Elevator Company for 25 years. He was an avid Boston Bruins and New England Patriots fan and enjoyed watching Boston University hockey games. Brian also enjoyed his nieces and nephews and was always interested in their activities.
Brian was the cherished son of Elizabeth S. “Betty” (Tyminski) Flanagan and the late Daniel J. Flanagan Jr. He was the beloved brother of Karen A. Kempker and her husband Dave of Elmhurst, Ill.; Nancy J. Flanagan and her husband Dave Marsters of Andover, and Amy E. Flanagan of Saugus and Falmouth. He was the devoted uncle to Elizabeth Kempker, Katherine Kempker, Alexandra Kempker, Nolan Marsters and Alison Marsters. He was the loving nephew of Robert and Marilyn “Sis” Tyminski of Coconut Creek, Fla. and the late Billy and Chickie McGunigle. He is also survived by several loving cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Brian’s visiting hours on Friday, March 18 from 4-8 p.m. in the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose. His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. in The Church of The Incarnation, 429 Upham St. Melrose. His burial is private.
