Carmen-Guerra-obit-webMELROSE — Carmen A. (Dominguez) Guerra, 92, of Melrose, passed away on February 17, 2017.

Carmen was born in Cuba on August 5, 1924 to Carlos and Isabelle (Estrellas) Dominguez. She was raised in Cuba and came to the U.S. in 1962. Carmen moved to Melrose in 1965 and was a resident ever since. She was a very charitable person and always tried to help others. Carmen was a former member of St. Joseph Church in Wakefield, and she worked as a dietician and chef at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital as well as The Golden Living Center on Martin Street in Melrose.

She was the beloved wife of the late Alberto Guerra. She was the loving mother of Alberto Guerra Jr. and his wife Janice of Yorktown, Virginia; and Alejandro Guerra of North Beverly. She is survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visiting Hours was held on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose. Immediately following the visitation, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose. Interment was private.
