Pediatric nurse worked for Melrose-Wakefield Hospital

Caroline-Carleton-obit-webMELROSE — Caroline Faye (Brackett) Carleton, 87, passed away at her home in Melrose on January 14, 2017.

Faye was born in Danvers on June 15, 1929 to the late Charles and Helen (Deering) Brackett. She was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1947 and from Children’s Hospital School of Nursing. Faye played basketball and softball at Melrose High School.

Mrs. Carleton was a lifelong resident of Melrose, except for a few years when she lived in Georgia while her husband was in the Air Force. Faye worked as a pediatric nurse for over 30 years at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Mrs. Carleton was an avid golfer, and enjoyed playing golf in Florida and was a member of the Rowley Country Club for many years. She enjoyed taking trips to Bermuda, Florida, Sunapee Lake and in years past liked to go skiing. She also enjoyed going to bingo in Florida on Thursdays and at Malden Catholic High School on Sundays.

Faye was the beloved wife of 67 years to Kenneth B. Carleton. She was the loving mother of Scott Carleton and his wife Susan of Rowley; Sara D’Alelio and her husband Robert of Darien, Connecticut; Steven Carleton and his wife Jo-Ann of Andover; and Seth Carleton of Melrose. She was the grandmother of Ashley Bobrek and her husband John; Kimberly Kmiec and her husband Richard; Kerri Carleton; Gregory, Jeffrey and Bradley D’Alelio; and Nicholas and Lindsay Carleton. She was the great grandmother of Lucas Bobrek. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.

Faye’s funeral service and interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Faye’s name to Children’s Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115. Arrangements by Gately Funeral Home Melrose.
