MELROSE — Horace M. Smith, formerly a 45-year resident of Vinton Street in Melrose, passed away peacefully on August 7.
He was the loving husband of the late Mary Ann (Slemp) Smith, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.
Horace retired from MIT in 1988 after 20 years, where he worked in the admissions office for the graduate school of electrical engineering and computer science.
A celebration of life service including a Dixieland Jazz Band will be held on Wednesday, October 28, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Melrose VFW, located at 14 Chipman Ave., Melrose.
