STONEHAM — Charles Granville Day passed away on March 24 from pancreatic cancer.

Charles Granville Day was born September 20, 1949, in Melrose. Charles was the fourth of six children born to Alice and James Day of Melrose. By the time Charles left high school, his father had retired and his mother was not in good health. For the next 25 years, he lived with and helped his parents. After his parents passed away, he lived in Melrose for two years and spent his last 15 years in Stoneham. For many of those years he worked at Johnnies Supermarket and was an umpire in Middlesex County for girls’ softball.
