MELROSE — The Melrose Chamber of Commerce, Presenting Sponsor MelroseWakefield Hospital and the City of Melrose invite you to attend the 39th Annual Victorian Fair on Sunday, September 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Melrose.
This year’s Fair is dedicated to John Doherty, division foreman of the Melrose Department of Public Works Parks and Forestry Divisions and Melrose resident who passed away last September from injuries sustained while doing the job he loved. Organizers will be joined by his family during Center Stage to honor his many contributions to Melrose.
The Fair offers something for everyone!
With close to 200 booths filled with food, games and fun, local businesses and civic organizations, the Victorian Fair is a long anticipated event in Melrose. Between Upham/Essex Streets and Grove Streets, you can walk along Main Street and visit with your favorite businesses, vendors, community organizations and elected officials! Many booths will offer samples, specials, food and gifts for sale, giveaways, raffles and other activities. Please come out to support our community businesses, organizations and leaders. Contact the Chamber to see if booth spaces are still available, at 781-665-3033.
Fair entertainment and fun!
The Victorian Fair’s annual Center Stage is a day-long schedule of performances and entertainment located on West Foster Street near Main Street. This year organizers introduce a new Master of Ceremonies, Julie Nolan, a Melrose resident, local comedian, volunteer and host of “The Julie Nolan Show” on MMTV. Julie takes over for longtime Master of Ceremonies, Marcy Holbrook.
Come watch the city’s dancers, singers, martial arts students and others show off their talents. Thanks to MMTV, Center Stage will be filmed and aired for all to enjoy at a later date. The Fair will once again feature a variety of small rides and amusements (for a fee) in the parking lot behind Papa Gino’s, which is sure to bring smiles to the faces of our youngest Fair-goers.
Thanks to the support of some local residents and the Melrose Energy Commission, check out a display of Electric Vehicles as part of National Drive Electric Week, on East Foster Street. Leading up to the display will be a new section of the Fair, “Sustainable Melrose” where Fair-goers can learn more about how to go green in their lives.
The Big Ticket raffle is back!
For just $10 per ticket, you can take a chance to win one of 13 incredible prizes donated by Melrose Chamber Member businesses. Some of the prizes include a beautiful rug donated by Melrose Oriental Rug, an Apple iWatch donated by Rockland Trust, a gorgeous pendant donated by Perella Jewelers, gift certificates to local restaurants and much more. Don’t miss your chance to win one of this year’s amazing prizes!
