Devoted wife, mother belonged to Incarnation Church

Polcari-obit_webMELROSE — Claire M. (McCarthy) Polcari, a 50-year resident of Melrose, and former 24-year resident of Lynn, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Winchester Hospital. She was 86 years old.

Claire was born in Chicago, Ill. on Dec. 26, 1927, a daughter of the late Henry and Claire M. (Haley) McCarthy. She moved to Lynn when she was 3, where she grew up and attended St. Pius elementary school and graduated from St. Mary High School in 1946.

Claire was a homemaker throughout most of her life, who devoted her life to being a mother and a wife. Claire was a member of Sodality and was a Eucharistic Minister at The Church of the Incarnation in Melrose for 29 years.

Claire was the beloved wife of 59 years to Anthony C. Polcari. She was the devoted mother to Linda M. Biles of Andover, Donna M. Polcari of North Andover, Carol A. Polcari-Dickerson and her husband James of Windham, NH., James A. Polcari and his wife Mealea of Lowell and John A. Polcari of Bradford. She was the loving Grandma to Julianne, Matthew, Kaleigh, Erin, Jennifer, Caroline, Jaclyn, Olivia, Anthony, Joseph, Ethan and Connie. She was the dear sister of the late John James McCarthy, Henry McCarthy and Nancy McCarthy.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend Claire’s visiting hours on Friday, Nov. 7, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St., Melrose, followed by her funeral Mass in The Church of The Incarnation, 429 Upham St., Melrose, at 11 a.m. Her burial was at St. Mary Cemetery in Salem.
