Keefe-obit-webMERRIMACK, N.H. — Diane M. (Harkins) “DiDi” Keefe, 57, of Merrimack, N.H. and formerly of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, at Lahey Medical Center in Burlington.

Diane was born in Chelsea on March 20, 1958, one of four children of the late James and June (Wonson) Fitzgerald. She was raised and educated in Chelsea where she graduated from Chelsea High School. A Tewksbury resident for many years, she stayed at home to care for her two sons.

After raising her children, Diane enjoyed her working career in the administration office at the Woburn Daily Times.

Diane was a fun loving, warm, vibrant person who made friends easily and cherished her family. She loved traveling and enjoyed trips to Florida with her family, Niagara Falls and especially cherished a trip across the western United States through the National Park lands with Bob.

A social butterfly, she filled her free time with her family, socializing with anyone she met. She also enjoyed arts and crafts and had love for being outside. She had an appreciation for nature, loved gardening and planting. Diane looked forward to weekend adventures spent cruising throughout New Hampshire on the back of Bob’s motorcycle.

A beautiful person, Diane had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She was comfortable at home spending time with Bob, Buster, her extended family and especially cherished her granddaughter Teagan. She will be lovingly remembered by her dear family and close friends.

DiDi was the beloved fiancé of Robert G. Stevens with whom she shared 25 years. She was the cherished mother of Peter J. Keefe of Sebastian, Fla. and William E. Keefe IV. She was the loving sister of Cathryn J. Grayson and her husband Bernard of Tewksbury, Kevin J. Fitzgerald of Salem, N.H. and the late John W. Harkins Jr. She was the caring sister-in-law of Linda E. Holmes and her husband Michael of Tewksbury. She was the loving grandmother of Teagan J. Keefe of Sebastian, Fla. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends gathered in honor and remembrance of Diane’s life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, April 7, from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m.

Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
