Masielloobit-webMELROSE — Doris C. (Cardillo) Masiello, 90, of Melrose, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 10.

Doris was born in Wakefield on May 8, 1926 to Anthony and Mary (Lepore) Cardillo. She was raised in Wakefield and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1945.

Doris married the love of her life, Ernest Masiello, on October 16, 1949 at St. Joseph Church in Wakefield and they spent 65 wonderful years together. They settled in Melrose after they were married and started their family.

Doris was a former member of the Incarnation Parish in Melrose. Early in their marriage Doris played a big role in helping her husband Ernie get his business started, Crystal Motor Express Inc. She was a terrific mother and was always there for her children.

Doris loved going to the family home at Bow Lake in New Hampshire in the summertime, a place they first started going to in 1958. And for the last 40 years she had been traveling to Deltona, Florida in the winter. Doris was an avid golfer both at Mt. Hood Golf Course in Melrose as well as in Deltona.

She also enjoyed knitting, baking, and cooking.

Above all else, Doris loved her family, she was proud of them all. She will be greatly missed.

Doris was the beloved wife of the late Ernest A. Masiello. She was the loving mother of Charles R. Masiello and his wife Judy of Wakefield, Ronald E. Masiello and his wife Elaine of Lynn, Jean M. Powers and her husband Andy of Melrose and her beloved nephew Rick Veerman of Wakefield. She was the proud grandmother of Leanne Masiello, Rachel Masiello, Bonnie Keane and her husband Gerry, Jessica Correia and her husband Joe, Natalie Casey and her husband Tom, and Kenneth Powers. She was the caring great-grandmother of Kyla and Colin Casey, Joseph and Fallon Correia, and Jude Keane. She was the sister of Mildred Connolly of DeBary, FL.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, Jan. 16, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 10 a.m. at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose. Interment at St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
