Eleanor-Murray-obit-webMELROSE — Eleanor M. (Gibbons) Murray, 90, a lifelong resident of Melrose, passed away at the Golden Living Center – The Elmhurst on Tuesday, February 3.

Eleanor was born in Melrose on November 20, 1924, one of two daughters of the late Arthur F. and Harriette (Hauman) Gibbons. Raised in Melrose, Eleanor graduated from Melrose High School.

She worked as a clerk for Malden Trust Co. for many years and later owned and operated the convenience store “Bob’s Market” on W. Wyoming Avenue with her late husband. In her free time, she loved gardening, flowers, and baking.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph I. Murray. She was the devoted sister of the late Shirley Kelley and her late husband Richard. She was the loving aunt of David Kelley of Boca Raton, FL, and great aunt of Benjamin Kelley of Boca Raton, FL. She was the dear cousin of Robert L. Graves and his wife Dorothy of Hudson, NH, Joe E. Graves of Melrose, and the late Richard Graves.

Relatives and friends will gather in honor and remembrance of Eleanor’s life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, February 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and again on Saturday for her funeral service celebrated at 9 a.m.
