Mitchell-obit_webMELROSE — Elizabeth F. (Coviello) Mitchell, 98, passed away April 24, 2017.
Betty, as know to family and friends, was born in Wakefield on December 10, 1918 to the late Anthony and Louise (Gavagno) Coviello, where she lived growing up and graduated Wakefield High School Class of 1937.
Betty resided in Melrose for over 60 years. She worked in the dry cleaning business until the age of 80. For 50 years, she served Guy’s Cleaners, Freeman’s Cleaners and Anton’s Cleaners.
Betty was the beloved wife of the late Augustus J Mitchell. She was the loving mother of Kenneth Mitchell and his wife Linda. She was grandmother to Jason Mitchell; and Heather Gaudet and her husband Charlie. She was the precious Great Grandmother to Branson, Sage and Sabrina
Betty was the sister of the late Chris Coviello and his wife Ida; and the late Rose DeSantis and her husband Frank. She was the sister-in-law to the late Thelma Mitchell; and the late Irene Spinney and her husband Ernie. Betty also cherished her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Betty was a devoted friend to so many, enjoyed walking around Melrose, traveling with her family to Maine, and truly loved going to dinner in the North End.
Visitation will take place at Gately Funeral Home, Friday, April 28 from 9-10 a.m., followed by a prayer service at 10 a.m. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery will follow.
