WAKEFIELD — Attention boys and girls. If you live in Wakefield and are between the ages of 8 and 13 as of April 1, 2016, you are eligible to participate in the Elks National “Hoop Shoot” Contest.

The Wakefield Elks will be sponsoring this event, which will take place at the Dolbeare Elementary School, 340 Lowell St., Wakefield on Sunday, Nov. 8.

The age categories by gender are 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13 year olds. Kids must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Participants are asked to bring a copy of their birth certificate to verify which category they will shoot in. If a child shoots in the wrong category, he/she will be disqualified.

Registration will be from 8-8:45 a.m. The contest will start promptly at 9 a.m.

Trophies will be given to the top winners in each category. The first place winners of each age/gender group will advance to the District Contest to be held in January. Expenses for the Regional and National contest will be reimbursed by the Elks.
