Wellington-obit-webMELROSE — Eloise B. Wellington, 84, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away suddenly at home on Good Friday, April 3, as she wished.

Eloise was born in Medford, the daughter of the late Clarence C. and Eloise (Ogden) Wellington. She was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1948. She received her B.S. degree from Boston University in 1952. Eloise worked for many years as an insurance consultant for New England Mutual Life from 1962 until her retirement in 1992.

Eloise was a longtime member of the First Parish in Malden, Universalist where she was a board member, served as treasurer for 17 years and worked in the church office for many years. She was a member and trustee of the Barton Center for Diabetes Education in North Oxford. She also served as the president and recording secretary for the Women’s Club of Melrose and member and director of the President’s Club. She was the president of the Eighth District of the GFWC of Massachusetts.

Eloise was the dear cousin of Dorothy Donovan of Natick. Also survived by several cousins, many friends and neighbors.

Relatives and friends gathered in honor and remembrance of Eloise’s life during visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Tuesday, April 7 from 4 to 8 p.m., and again for her funeral service celebrated at 10 a.m.

Interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
