HAMILTON — On May 3, the Lynnfield High girls’ lacrosse team lost, 17-9, at Hamilton-Wenham. With the defeat, the Pioneers record fell to 5-7 overall and 2-5 in the Cape Ann League

The Generals (4-3 overall and in the CAL) swept the season series as they beat the Pioneers, 15-7, back on April 3.

“They have a few very good players,” said Pioneers head coach Christina Serra. “We also made a lot of mistakes in the opening half although, I was pleased with the way we play in the second half.”

The Generals led 13-3 at the break but the Pioneers outscored them, 6-4, in the second half.

“They kept their starters in, in the second half,” pointed out Serra.

Eve Bernard, the Generals’ star player, scored a game-high six goals.

For LHS, Ava Damiani and Taylor Valiton led the way with three goals and one assist each. Hayden Valiton scored twice while Lily White had the other goal.

Maddie Mastrangelo had one assist.

Lynnfield goalie, Casey Flynn, made four saves in net as her record dipped to 5-7.

On April 30, the Pioneers snapped their five-game losing streak as they beat Georgetown, 18-14, at home on Senior Night.

“This is the first time we have beat Georgetown in my three years here,” pointed out Serra. “The girls played well and our six seniors got a lot of playing time.”

Lynnfield led this one wire-to-wire as they were up, 12-7, at the half.

Freshman Hayden Valiton led the way in this one with a career-high six goals to go with three assists. Her sister, Taylor, and Damiani both recorded hat tricks.

Jordan Calichman had four points with two goals and two helpers. Keely Briggs also scored twice while Quinn Lavey scored her first-career goal.

Sophie Bergeron had two assists while Mastrangelo had one.

Flynn turned back 11 Royals shots on net.

Before the game, the six Pioneer 12th-graders were honored.

On May 9, the Pioneers host Malden Catholic in a non-league game at 4 p.m. They then return to CAL action on May 14 as they host Ipswich with that game also starting at 4 p.m.

Ipswich won the first meeting, 16-7, back on April 11 as the Pioneers are looking to get a split of the season series.
