NORTH READING — Gloria M. (Mazzotti) Carr, 88, of North Reading and formerly of Roxbury, died Thursday evening, Dec. 4, 2014, at Kindred Hospital in Peabody. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward F. Carr.
Born in Boston on July 15, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Urbano and Luigia (Monticone) Mazzotti. Gloria was a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School, Class of 1943 and she also attended Bentley School of Accounting in Boston.
Gloria worked for many years as a bookkeeper. She worked for Bay State Auto Spring in Roxbury, Bart Tribuna and Company in Boston and she was an owner of Carr’s Hallmark in North Reading from 1963 to 2014. She opened her business in 1963 with her husband, who built their first store, brick by brick on weekends, for years before opening. Her store wasn’t just a job, it was her life. She loved all the customers, who became friends and would stop by just to talk.
