MELROSE — Mayor Rob Dolan, the Melrose Veterans Advisory Board, local veteran organizations, and the Melrose Veterans Services Office invite the public to participate in the 2017 Melrose Memorial Day Parade.
This year’s parade will honor Gulf War era veterans, and all veterans from that period are invited to march in the parade as part of the grand marshal’s section.
“This parade is our annual remembrance of all the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our country, as well as our living veterans and those who are currently serving,” said Dolan. “I hope everyone will participate, either by marching or by coming to watch the parade and pay tribute to our veterans.”
The parade will be held on Sunday, May 28. Floats and antique cars will assemble in front of Memorial Hall at 12:30 p.m. All other participants will assemble at 1 p.m., and the parade begins at 1:30. The parade will travel down Main Street to the Wyoming Cemetery on Sylvan Street.
Groups or individuals who wish to participate in the parade should call the Veterans Services Office, 781-979-4186, or e-mail Veterans Services Officer Alicia Reddin at areddin@cityofmelrose.org.
