WAKEFIELD — Irving K. Stark, 91, of Wakefield and formerly of Melrose, died May 15 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born on March 22, 1924, he was the son of the late Merrick F. and Frances L. (Hogan) Stark.

Irving was raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1942. He later graduated from the University of Massachusetts.

He worked and later retired as a civil engineer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

He had been a resident of Wakefield since 1951.

He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Olde Newbury Golf Club. He was also a member of the Wakefield Senior Bowling League.

Irving had served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, where he flew more than 60 missions in Europe and Africa.

He was the beloved husband of Priscilla L. (Clark). He was the loving father of Peter W. Stark and wife Elaine of Melrose, Candace L. Bouris and husband George of Waltham and Mark H. Stark and wife Joanne of Wakefield. He was the brother of Barbara Grosvenor of Virginia and the late Lawrence Stark and Evelyn Parker. He was the grandfather of Christina and husband Andy, Kimberly, Brenden and wife Erin, Samantha, Bradford and Christopher.

His funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, Thursday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m.
