Worked as Malden election official

Neale-obit-webMALDEN — Jean (Fowler) Neale, 83, of Malden, died at home on Nov. 27.

Jean was born and raised in Medford, was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1949, and went on to attend Bridgewater State College.

She was a homemaker and longtime warden election official for the city of Malden for many years.

Jean loved to ballroom dance and enjoyed putting on dances every Saturday and New Year’s Eve at the Malden Emergency Center in Malden for many years.

She enjoyed spending summers on Beaver Lake in Derry, N.H., and spending her time taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jean was the beloved wife of the late Norman A. Neale for over 60 years. She was the loving mother of Allen R. Neale and his wife Elizabeth of Amesbury, Cheryl L. Preston of Malden, Bruce C. Neale and his wife Denise of Derry, N.H. and Dennis E. Neale and his wife Karen of Melrose. She was the caring sister of Louise A. Small of Andover and the late Patricia Small. She was the niece of Ruth Hussey of Chelsea. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 15-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m.

Burial in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
