Gill-Obit-webNORTH READING — Joseph P. Gill – 71, of North Reading, formerly of Charlestown and Malden, died Sunday afternoon, February 1, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born in Boston on March 13, 1943, he was the son of the late Patrick and Bridget (Doherty) Gill. He was raised in Charlestown and attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and was a graduate of Cathedral High School. Joseph was U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and served from 1961 to 1963.

Most recently, he worked as a starter at the Hillview Country Club in North Reading. He was a former co-owner for ComServ Telecommunications Services in Woburn and also worked for New England Telephone and AT&T.

He was a great father, caring and loving, helpful and generous, witty and a good friend to all. Joe was an avid golfer and loved playing cards. He was courageous.

Family members include his loving daughter, Kellee Augusta and her husband Ryan of North Reading and his son, Scott Gardner and his wife Lori of Litchfield, IL; his former wife, Kathleen M. Gardner-Gill of Manchester, NH; brothers, Andrew Gill and his wife Marie of Stoneham, Francis Gill of West Roxbury and the late Johnny Gill; grandchildren, Charlotte and Zachary.

His funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading on Friday, February 6 at 9:15 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter Street (Rt. 62), North Reading. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
