Medical assistant graduated from Somerville High

NORTH READING — Kathleen E. Crotty, 62, of North Reading, formerly of Somerville, died Friday, Aug. 19 at the Lynn Union Hospital.
Born in Cambridge on Aug. 31, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Elizabeth (Sharpe) Amero.
Kathy was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1971. She had worked as a medical assistant for Harvard Vanguard. Kathy loved the lake and the beach; but above all she loved her family, she was a wonderful and caring mother. She was known for having a big heart and placing everyone’s needs before her own.
Kathy was the adoring mother of George Crotty III and Kerry Crotty, both of Somerville. She was the sister of John Surabian of Salem, Robert Amero of Chelmsford and Patricia Amero of New Hampshire. She was the loving grandmother of Tyler Crotty, Caden Foley and Kali Mahoney. She was the former wife of George P. Crotty Jr. of Somerville. She was the dear friend of Mica Cabral of Roslindale. Kathy is also survived by her stepmother Jane Amero of West Virginia and stepfather Roland Cowie of Lynn, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is also survived by her longtime companion Joseph Pineyro.
Her funeral was held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday, Aug. 27, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, Wakefield. Interment was private.
