WAKEFIELD — Kenneth C. Mulrenan, 79, passed away at Genesis at Wakefield Nursing Center on Tuesday, January 6.

Ken was raised in Melrose, graduated from Malden Catholic High School, where he was a very talented hockey player. He attended Boston College and was a lifelong resident of Melrose before moving to Wakefield 10 years ago. Mr. Mulrenan worked for the city of Melrose in the Department of Public Works for over 20 years. Ken loved the beach, working out at the Melrose YMCA and loved to go out to eat.

Ken was the beloved son of the late Dominic and Gertrude (Hallahan) Mulrenan. He was the devoted brother of Ruth McCoy and her husband, Paul, of Plum Island; the late Rev. Donald Mulrenan; the late Robert Mulrenan; the late Edward Mulrenan and the late Rev. Richard Mulrenan. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Herbert St. Melrose on Saturday,  January 10 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
