Tame Tewksbury 2-0 in North Quarters

Junior Rachel Hill’s two goals helped lift the Lady Hornets past the visiting Tewksbury Redmen 2–0 in the Division 3 North State Sectional Tournament Quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon.

The Hornets came out flying right from the opening whistle. The hard work quickly paid off in the fifth minute. Junior Juliette Nadeau made a strong run down the flank and cut inside to find a trailing Karlie Vesey. Vesey then placed a low ball with pace across the six-yard box to a streaking Rachel Hill for an easy goal.

North Reading continued to create high quality chances, but lacked the finishing touch to increase the lead. Fortunately as the first-half clock rolled down senior captain Marissa Zarella played a beautiful pass to Hill who lofted her shot over the keeper’s head and into the back of the net to give the Hornets a 2–0 halftime lead.

It was more of the same in the second half. The Hornets created more chances but just struggled to put the game away. The Tewksbury keeper played well, turning away a half dozen point blank opportunities. The Redmen continued to fight but were held off the scoreboard.
