WAKEFIELD — Laverna M. (Leville) Woods, 81, of Wakefield, passed away on June 15 at the Wakefield Center.
Born in Malden on July 13, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Viola (Lufkin) Leville.
Laverna raised her family in Saugus and had been a resident of Wakefield for 20 years. She was educated in the Malden school system. In her younger years, she was known to share the gospel with neighbors and with Billy Graham by her side. Laverna loved the outdoors, and had a place in Maine where she would canoe and paint. Above all, she loved her family.
She was the loving mother of Debra Woodman of Stoneham, Gale Surette of Lawrence, Becky Azer Alexander and her husband Jim of Danvers, and George Richard Woodman III of Malden. She was the beloved grandmother of Laura, Rebecca, Rachel, Daniel, Jason, Nathan, John, Kendra, and George. She was the sister of the late Anne Flanagan and William Hanson. Laverna is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Laverna’s funeral will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home prior to the service starting at 12 noon.
