LYNNFIELD — A little rain couldn’t stop over 100 residents from attending the Lynnfield Public Library’s Summer Reading Kickoff Party held inside the Meeting House and on the Town Common on June 26.

The dreary weather did not stop the kickoff party from happening and over 100 people from attending the event. The sprinkle of rain also did not cloud the excitement in the center of town.

The fun activities for attendees included face painting by Violet the Clown, bubbles, J.P. Licks ice cream and, most importantly, Summer Reading log handouts.

This year’s theme is “Find Your Voice.” The program will run through Friday, Aug. 11.  Kids of all ages are able to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge.

Children and families can use the Beanstalk Tracker app to track progress and complete various activities to earn badges. Kids can take advantage of the library’s circulation desk to log books if preferred. Progress will be displayed in the Children’s Room at the library. The raffle prizes include a prize bag from the library, a MarketStreet Lynnfield gift card, Topsfield Fair tickets and concessions.

This much loved event could not have been possible without a team to organize and support it. Circulation Assistant Samantha Totman welcomed children and parents with a Summer Reading Log folder set up at the front entrance of the Meeting House.

There were key sponsors that helped make the Summer Reading kickoff celebration a big success. Wakefield Co-Operative Bank and Kevin McCauley of the Friends of the Lynnfield Library had tables set up for attendees and expressed their joy in aiding the program.

Children and families are also invited to celebrate the conclusion of the program on Friday, Aug. 11, beginning at 11 a.m. on the Town Common.
