Tryouts will be held March 6-7, March 14 at WMHS Field House
WAKEFIELD — Little League tryouts are this Friday night and Saturday, March 6 and 7, with the makeup date being next Saturday, March 14, for both baseball and softball.
Also, Little League will take walk-in registrations at all three tryout dates. All information can be found along with registering your child for this year’s season at wakefieldlittleleague.org.
If your son or daughter is not already on a Major League or Senior League team they will need to attend one of the following tryouts. Also, all 9-year-olds, both girls and boys, need to try out.
Softball Tryouts
Softball tryouts are on Friday night, March 6, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Wakefield Memorial High School Field House.
All Little League age 9 players’ tryouts are at 5:30 p.m. All Little League, ages 10, 11 and 12, are at 7 p.m. for players who are not already on a Major League team. All Little League, ages 13 and up, are at 8 p.m. and tryouts are for players who are not already on a Senior League team.
The Little League ages for softball are: Farm League (Born 1/1/05-12/31/07), Minor League (Born 1/1/03-12/31/05), Major League (Born 1/1/02-12/31/04), Senior League (Born 1/1/98-12/31/01).

Baseball Tryouts
Baseball tryouts are Saturday, March 7, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the WMHS Field House.
Little League 11- and 12-year-olds, who are not already on a Major League team, tryouts are from 8:30-9:30 a.m.
Tryouts for Little League 10-year-olds are from 9:30-11 a.m.
Little League 9-year-olds tryouts are 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for Minors.
The Little League age for baseball are: Tee Ball (Born 1/1/09 – 12/31/10), Rookie League (Born 1/1/08 – 12/31/08), A League Ages (Born 1/1/07 – 12/31/07), Minor League (Born 5/1/02 – 12/31/06) and Major League (Born 5/1/02 – 4/30/05).
Note: All 12-year-olds who participate in the preseason tryout must be selected onto a Major League team. Any 12-year-old who wants to participate in the tryout but does not want to play at the Major League level, can sign a waiver prior to the tryouts to play at the Minor League level. Please speak to one of the WLL representatives for a waiver. You must try out to be eligible for a Major League team.
Senior League Tryouts
Senior League players, ages 13-16, (any player born between 05/01/98-04/30/02) will play on the big diamond and tryouts are from 1-2 p.m.
Makeup Tryouts
The last tryout day for baseball and softball is Saturday, March 14 from 8:30 a.m.-noon for anyone who has not tried out. You need only to attend one tryout in order to be eligible for the draft. Note: If you don’t try out you are not eligible to play Majors.
