LYNNFIELD — In game two of the District 16 Little League Williamsport tournament (ages 11 and 12), Lynnfield moved to 2-0 as they defeated East Lynn 6-0. This game took place over two days on June 30 and July 1.

It started at MacArthur Park in Peabody until it was stopped due to the rain in the second inning.

It then was continued the next day at Swampscott Middle School.

James Pasquale was the winning pitcher going all six innings to go to 2-0. He gave up one hit, two walks and struck out five.

“He is an exceptional pitcher,” said Lynnfield manager Steve Walsh. “To pick up from where he left off the day before was exceptional.”

Lynnfield scored once in the first inning, three times in the third and twice more in the fifth.

In the first, Coley Walsh, Steve’s son, homered to right-center.

In the third, Walsh (3 for 3 with a walk) struck again with a two-run triple to center field. He then stole home for the team’s fourth run.

Grant Neal then delivered a two-run double to center field in the fifth inning.

Lynnfield had eight hits total as Pasquale was the team’s other multiple hitter going 2 for 3.

In game one on June 26, Lynnfield blanked host Salem at Salem Forest River Park, 13-0, in a four-inning mercy-rule game.

Pasquale went all four frames allowing one hit and one walk. He fanned 11 hitters.

The Lynnfield offense was hot pounding out 13 hits.

“It was a true team effort and everybody contributed,’ said Walsh. “We came out a little nervous but was able to open it up with eight runs in the second inning.”

Lynnfield scored twice in the first and plated three more runs in the third inning.

Walsh went 2 for 2 with a walk and two RBI while Ollie Morgan was 2 for 3 was a walk and two RBI. Pasquale was also 2 for 3 and knocked in two runs.

Jared Burke was the team’s fourth multiple hitter going 2 for 3.

Charlie Pizzotti just missed a home run as he had a two-run triple for his lone hit.

In their third game on July 11, Lynnfield played against Peabody West at Wyoma Park in Lynn. The game was postponed in the second inning due to the rain with Lynnfield trailing 2-0.

The rest of the game was made-up on July 13 (results not available at press time).

If Lynnfield lost that game they would play West Lynn on July 14 (location and time unknown at press time). If they came back and won they would play on July 15 (opponent, location and time unknown at press time).
