LYNNFIELD — It was a memorable Senior Night for the Lynnfield High boys’ soccer team on Oct. 28 as the Pioneers blanked guest Triton 2-0 for their fourth-straight victory.
With that win, the Pioneers improved to 5-1-1.
“We were able to give the seniors a lot of playing time,” pointed out Pioneer head coach Brent Munroe. “We were able to have them all on the field at the end of the game.”
At halftime, the 10 Lynnfield seniors were honored.
After a scoreless opening quarter, the Pioneers first tally took place six minutes into the second quarter as Alex Gentlie scored his first goal of the season off a feed from fellow sophomore Henry Caulfield.
Gentile found the back of the Viking net again early in the fourth quarter for the second goal which was assisted by junior Dom Ferrante.
“Alex has played really well for us all year,” said Munroe. “He has been one of our key players and he was able to cash in on his chances.”
Senior captain Dante Gesamondo improved to 5-1-1 In net as he played the first half in goal and made two stops. Senior Chris daSilva, was the goalkeeper in the second half and he made two saves as well to preserve the shutout.
The game at home against Pentucket on Halloween morning was postponed due to the snow the day before and was made up on Nov. 3 (results not available at press time).
