Parts manager at 128 Ford, avid tennis player

Mark-Riess-obit-7-21-17_webMIDDLETON — Mark E. Riess, 56, of Middleton, formerly of Wakefield, died at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston on July 16, 2017.

Mark was born in Stoneham, raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield Memorial High School, Class of 1979. He resided in Melrose for 18 years and the past 17 years in Middleton. Mark worked as a parts manager for 128 Ford in Wakefield for many years. He was a member of the Winchester and Northeast Tennis Leagues and loved to spend time at Long Beach in Rockport. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed going to Disney World in Florida, and his family was the most important part of his life.

Mark was the loving father of Amanda J. Riess of Melrose, Laura A. Riess of Tewksbury, and Jessica L. Riess of Florida. He was the former spouse of Judy A. Riess of Melrose. He was the caring brother of Bonnie Riess and her spouse Linda Coleman of Hyannis, Joseph Riess of Middleton, Susan Day and her husband Kenneth of Plympton, Edward Riess of Middleton, Keith Riess of Middleton, and Karl Riess of Beverly. He was the uncle of Matthew and Michael Day, both of Plympton. He was a good food friend of Keith and Carol LeBlanc of Ipswich.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose on Friday, July 21 from 4-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home on Saturday, July 22 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private.
