MELROSE — Most students and teachers head back to class next week as the 2024-25 academic year begins in the Melrose Public Schools.
The first day for all students except kindergarteners is Wednesday, August 28. For those kids, there will be kindergarten screening appointments on August 28 and 29. There is no school for anyone on Friday, August 30, or on Monday, September 2, which is Labor Day. Everyone returns Tuesday, September 3 and kindergarteners have their first day of school.
Professional development for staff will be held Monday, August 26 and Tuesday, August 27.
School hours
Elementary Schools Grades K-5: 8:03 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.
Franklin School Kindergarten (only): 8:20 a.m. to 2:37 p.m.
Middle School, Grades 6-8: 8:15 a.m. to 2:41 p.m.
High School, Grades 9-12: 8:15 a.m. to 2:41 p.m.
Preschool/Pre K (Franklin): 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (group 1); 8:25 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. (group 2)
Education Stations/After School Program
Pre-K and Grades 1-5 begin on Wednesday, Aug 28 and kindergarten begins on Tuesday, September 3. Pre-registration is required. Information can be found on our website. https://www.melroseschools.com/page/education-stations
Education Stations/Before School Program
Grades 1 through 5 begin on Thursday, Aug 29 at 7 a.m., Pre-K before school programming at the Franklin School will begin on Thursday, Aug 29 at 7:30 a.m. and Kindergarten before school programming begins on September 3. PLEASE NOTE: Education Stations will also be closed on Friday, August 30 and Monday, September 2 as schools are closed in observance of Labor Day.
