GEORGETOWN—Melrose High golf captain Zak Farrell represented Melrose at the MIAA Div. 2 North tournament on Monday, Oct. 23 at Black Swan Country Club in Georgetown. The senior enjoyed a strong day, punching his ticket to the Division 2 state championships this Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Highfields Golf and Country Club in Grafton.
Farrell shot an impressive 77 today to earn a spot for Melrose. It was a culmination of a strong season for Farrell, Melrose’s #1 shooter all season. He spoke to the Melrose Weekly about his experience at the Division finals.
“I was fortunate enough to have a practice round the day before [the event] and I thought the it was a fun day,” he said. “A lot of kids played well.”
Next week, expect Farrell to be in good company as he tees off against some of the state’s finest high school golfers. The shooter will be well prepared and plans to get another practice round in.
Farrell, who started golf at the age of three, plans to continue on with the sport he loves, even in college. “I plan on playing in college somewhere in college in New England. I’ve been talking to colleges.”
He’s got plenty of time to impress when he tees off on Tuesday at Highfields Golf Club in Grafton at 9:00 a.m.
