At this time, the Melrose School Committee is engaged in one of its most important tasks: conducting a search for the next Superintendent of Schools, who will begin serving on July 1, 2024. With 4000+ students in the district, community participation is critical to helping find the right leader to support their learning and growth. The Committee has met with the three finalists, one each on November 13 (Dr. Jannell Pearson-Campbell), November 14 (Mr. Adam Deleidi), and November 28 (Dr. John Buckey). Citizens can learn about the candidates at the MMTV YouTube Channel from their meet-and-greet sessions as well as their School Committee interviews. Candidate resumés are located in the School Committee Special Meeting agendas.
The Committee would appreciate hearing from Melrose stakeholders by way of this survey being conducted by its consultant, the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC), to help evaluate the skills, abilities, and experiences that are important in the district’s next leader, along with understanding the factors considered most important for success in the role. The survey is completely anonymous and will only take a few minutes; and the deadline is Sunday, December 3 at 5:00. Community members are equally invited to e-mail feedback to schoolcommittee@cityofmelrose.org. The Committee looks forward to deliberating on this important decision on December 5, 2023 at 7:00 in the City Council Chamber of City Hall, which will be televised and livestreamed by MMTV. The Committee is very grateful for the community’s support.
