MELROSE — Dorothy E. (Likely) Fiebig, 92, longtime Melrose resident, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2019 with her family by her side.
Born on October 25, 1926 in Newton, Dorothy is one of four children of the late John and Eleanor (Inman) Likely. She grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School. She would meet and later marry the love of her life, Harold G. Fiebig. They would eventually settle in Melrose to raise their family.
Dorothy was a proud homemaker. She dearly loved her family and her cats, and could be found cooking, baking, planting her gardens, crocheting, and doing needlepoint.
Among other interests of Dorothy’s was traveling, with her favorite places being Germany, England, Switzerland, and Florida. She had a special spot in her heart for the Epcot Center as well. She loved to read. She would read four books a week, and had book swaps with her sisters, and spent a lot of time at the Melrose Library. She usually stopped by once a week for a new set of books.
Dorothy’s kindness and warmth will be remembered by those that knew and loved her. She will be missed.
Dorothy is the beloved wife of Harold G. Fiebig with whom she shared 64 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Lynn Fiebig and Nancy Fiebig, both of Melrose. Caring sister of the late John “Donnie” Likely and his wife Nikki, Ruthie McCarthy, and Renee Likely.
Services for Dorothy will be private.
