Enjoyed bowling, dancing and going down the Cape
MELROSE — Rita Barbara (Harrison) Coye died peacefully on March 19, 2023; she was 93 years of age. Rita was born in Everett on March 29, 1929 to the late Gordon and Susan (McDonnell) Harrison.
She was raised in Everett, graduated from Everett High School and has lived in Melrose for over 65 years. Mrs. Coye was a longtime member of Incarnation Church in Melrose.
Rita worked for over 20 years for Circle Floors in Everett, enjoyed bowling, dancing and in her earlier years playing bingo. Mrs. Coye loved spending time with her large extended family and going to Dennisport on Cape Cod with the Gradys.
Rita was the wife of the late Edward D. Coye. Loving mother of Maureen K. Morrissey and her husband Rick of N.H., Eileen S. Coye of Melrose, Michael K. Coye and his wife Michelle of Billerica and Kathleen R. Fortier and her husband David of Tewksbury. Cherished grandmother of Jason, Michaela, Susan & Kelly. Caring sister-in-law of Emily Youngclaus of Woburn.
Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 4 – 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial was held at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St. Melrose on Friday, March 24 at 10 a.m. Followed by a burial at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend.
