MELROSE — Rosemary F. (Ryan) Doherty, 80, of Melrose, died on December 10, 2019. Born in Malden, on September 8, 1939 to Thomas and Frances (Barry) Ryan.  

Rosemary was raised in Malden and graduated from Girls Catholic High School. She worked in the Division of Civil Service for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 10 years, before leaving the workforce to raise her daughter. She returned to work at the Malden Savings Bank for 11 years, and then at Seabury & Smith Insurance Co. in Burlington for 10 years before retiring.  

Rosemary was the beloved wife of the late Philip P. Doherty Jr. Loving mother of Sheila M. Furlong and her husband Ted of Braintree. Sister of Anna Butler of Melrose. Aunt of Ellen Vaitkunas, Stephen Butler, Susan Butler, Thomas Butler, and Karen Kelly. Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, on Saturday, December 14, followed by a funeral Mass at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield. Interment will be private.
