MELROSE — Theresa A. (McCormack) Magown, 85, passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on October 21, 2018.

Theresa was born in Melrose on January 13, 1933 to the late Patrick and Margaret (Walsh) McCormack. She was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary’s Grammar and St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1951. Mrs. McCormack was a homemaker, a lifelong resident of Melrose and had previously worked at Transitron in Melrose and was a bookkeeper at a local bank in Malden.

Theresa and her late husband Richard loved to travel to Ireland, across the United States in their car and spending time in Florida in the winter. Theresa loved Irish music and enjoyed spending a weekend on Cape Cod for Irish Music every year.

Mrs. Magown was the beloved wife of the late Richard C. Magown. Loving mother of Deborah A. Magown of Cambridge and Donna M. Magown and her husband Roger Wentworth of Melrose. Devoted sister of Robert McCormack and his wife Joanne of Lynnfield, Leonard McCormack and his wife Carol of Groveland and the late Philip McCormack, James McCormack and Margaret Winslow. Caring friend of Donna Carbo of Malden. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, October 25 from 4 – 7 p.m. Funeral procession from the Gately Funeral Home, Friday morning October 26 at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, 9 Herbert St. Melrose at 10 a.m. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
