MALDEN — Melvin M. Burgess, 80, of Malden, died at the Chestnut Woods Nursing Center in Saugus on Oct. 2.
Melvin was beloved husband of the late Charlotte M. (McAleavey) Burgess. He was the loving father of Susan Bowdridge and her husband Richard of Malden, Scott Burgess and his wife Deborah of New Hampshire, Tom Burgess and his wife Shelley, Charlotte Biasetti and her husband Anthony, all of Malden, and Michael Burgess and his wife Wendy of New Hampshire. He was the cherished grandfather of Tara, Ross, Sadie, Michael, Julia and Megan. He was the caring great-grandfather of Owen and Fiona. He was the devoted brother of William Burgess of Florida, Winifred Snow of Watertown, Kinnon Burgess of Malden and the late Robert Burgess. He is also survived by many nieces an nephews.
A funeral service was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m.
Burial will be private.
